The National’s Trouble Will Find Me from 2013 is full of the slow-burning songs, dry humour and quiet anxiety that the band does so well. Matt Berninger’s deep voice carries tracks like “I Should Live in Salt”, “Don’t Swallow the Cap” and “Graceless”, while the arrangements stay rich without becoming too busy. It is moody, melodic and very easy to sink into, especially on repeat listens. A strong National album and a very good entry point into their catalogue.
