Siouxsie And The Banshees - Through The Looking Glass (Half-speed)
Siouxsie and the Banshees’ Through the Looking Glass from 1987 is a covers album that sounds entirely their own. They rework songs by Iggy Pop, The Doors, Kraftwerk, Billie Holiday and others with icy guitars, inventive arrangements and Siouxsie Sioux’s unmistakable voice. Their versions of “This Wheel’s on Fire”, “The Passenger” and “Hall of Mirrors” are particular highlights. Rather than simply paying tribute, the band reshapes each song into something darker, stranger and more elegant. A fascinating detour in the Banshees catalogue.
