Rihanna - Girl Like Me (2LP)

Rihanna’s A Girl Like Me from 2006 is the album where her sound really starts to take shape, mixing pop, R&B and Caribbean influences with a stronger sense of identity. “SOS”, “Unfaithful” and “Break It Off” gave her some of her earliest major hits, while the rest of the record balances upbeat pop with slower, more emotional material. It is very much a mid-2000s album, but the hooks still land. A fun early chapter in Rihanna’s catalogue.
