Phil Collins’ No Jacket Required from 1985 is polished 1980s pop at its most confident. Collins balances upbeat pop with more reflective songwriting, while the production gives everything a glossy, widescreen feel. It became one of the decade’s biggest albums for good reason: catchy, carefully crafted and packed with songs that still sound unmistakably of their time.
