Nouvelle Vague - I Could Be Happy

Nouvelle Vague’s I Could Be Happy from 2016 keeps the group’s clever formula going, reworking post-punk and new wave songs with soft vocals, bossa nova touches and a very relaxed feel. Their versions of “Love Comes in Spurts”, “No One Is Receiving” and “All Cats Are Grey” are among the highlights, but the whole album has an easy, stylish flow. Familiar songs sound completely different in their hands. A lovely late-night listen and another very enjoyable entry in the Nouvelle Vague catalogue.
