Mitski - Be The Cowboy

Mitski’s Be the Cowboy from 2018 is a compact, brilliantly controlled collection of indie pop, art rock and emotional unease. Songs such as “Nobody”, “Geyser” and “Washing Machine Heart” are instantly memorable, but beneath the hooks sits a record about loneliness, performance, desire and distance. Mitski keeps most tracks deliberately short, giving the album a restless, fragmented energy that suits its themes perfectly. Smart, strange and sharply written, Be the Cowboyis one of her most accessible and rewarding albums.
