Massive Attack - Mezzanine (2LP)

Massive Attack’s Mezzanine from 1998 is dark, heavy and beautifully put together, mixing trip-hop, dub, rock and electronic textures into something that still sounds completely distinctive. “Teardrop”, “Angel” and “Inertia Creeps” are the obvious standouts, but the whole album works as one long late-night mood. The bass is deep, the production is full of detail and the atmosphere never lets up. A brilliant headphone record and one of those albums that seems to get better the more you play it.
