Malombo Jazz Makers’ Malombo Jazz Vol. 2 is another important slice of South African jazz, with the group blending improvisation, African rhythms and a loose, earthy groove that gives the music plenty of character. The 2023 reissue is a welcome chance to hear this material properly on vinyl again, especially for collectors digging deeper into the country’s jazz history. It is rawer and less polished than later jazz recordings, which is part of the appeal. A rewarding listen with real historical weight.
