Virgin (2025) feels like Lorde properly plugging back in after the hazier Solar Power. Co-produced with Jim-E Stack, it is restless, physical and very personal, dealing with heartbreak, body image, gender and the messy business of becoming yourself. “What Was That”, “Man of the Year” and “Hammer” are the immediate standouts, but the album works best as a whole. It has some of Melodrama’s electronic pulse again, without simply trying to repeat it. A bold, strangely intimate record.
