Jem – Finally Woken

Jem’s Finally Woken from 2004 is a smooth mix of pop, trip-hop, folk and electronic production, with a relaxed sound that fits the mid-2000s perfectly. “They”, “Just a Ride” and the title track are the obvious standouts, but the album holds together well beyond the singles. Jem’s voice keeps things light and intimate, while the beats add just enough edge. Easy to listen to, nicely produced and full of strong melodies, this is a lovely little 2000s pop record to come back to.
