Bon Iver - i,i

Bon Iver’s i,i from 2019 brings together the acoustic warmth of the early records with the fractured electronics of 22, A Million. Justin Vernon builds the album from layered vocals, brass, glitches and soft folk textures, with “Hey, Ma”, “Naeem” and “Faith” among the standouts. It can feel dense at first, but the songs open up with repeat listens. Thoughtful, strange and beautifully detailed, i,i is a rewarding record for anyone who likes their indie folk a little less predictable.
